Dr. James Day will be saying farewell to TCNJ this summer to begin his new role at Gettysburg College.

Dr. James Day posing with acoustic guitarDr. James Day will be saying farewell to TCNJ this summer to begin his new role as Director of the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College. Dr. Day joined the college in 1997 as artist faculty in the Music Department, where he led the guitar studies program and participated in the FSP and MUSE programs. He has served as assistant dean for the School of the Arts and Communication since 2011, overseeing many aspects of the school’s academic programs and playing a pivotal role in TCNJ achieving institutional accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. He has worked actively to deepen TCNJ’s engagement with the local community.

From January to June 2017, Dr. Day served as interim dean of the School of the Arts and Communication. He established named gifts to support the school’s Visiting Artist and Lecture Series and expansion of the school’s Makerspace. He supported an initiative to establish a new teaching and learning lab in Kendall Hall, guided the hire of two new tenure-track faculty, and served as a founding member and facilitator in TCNJ’s inaugural Sustained Dialogue program. Although we will miss his expertise and his dedication to the School and TCNJ, we wish him all the best on this exciting new chapter.
