Department: Communication Studies
Dr. Anntarie L. Sims is an Associate Professor specializing in interpersonal communication. She received her B.A. from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. She teaches Interpersonal Communication, Basic and Advanced Public Speaking, Small Group Communication, Introduction to Speech Communication, Organizational Leadership, Interracial/cultural Communication, and Inter-Gender. In the past, Dr. Sims served on several community boards, including the Trenton Urban League, the YWCA and the Mercer County Head Start Child Development Program. Dr. Sims also chairs the All College Disciplinary Board at TCNJ. In her free time she serves: (1) on the editorial board for the Atlantic Journal of Communication; (2) as the treasurer for the National Communication Association African American Communication and Culture Division and the Black Caucus, and (3) as the Secretary for the NCA Interpersonal Communication Division. Recently, she served as a consultant for Excelsior College’s Interpersonal Stand Setting process. In addition, she has reviewed several interpersonal and intercultural communication textbooks. Dr. Sims has offered communication workshops throughout the tri-state area and has been a consultant for Educational Testing Service. Lastly, Dr. Sims is a financially active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and an avid bowler with a number of Ewing Township leagues.
